West China Hospital dispatches 4th batch of Hubei-aiding medical team

Around 11:00 a.m. of February 21, a total of 13 medical workers from West China Hospital, Sichuan University, were gathered as the 6th batch of aiding medical team or the 4th batch of Hubei-aiding medical team from the hospital. Except for one clinical nutrition expert and one expert from the International Medical Center, the other 11 members are all from the Mental Health Center of WCH. As members of medical team sent by Sichuan Province, they're scheduled to head for the frontline to help curb the epidemic in Wuhan, Hubei Province. The leaders of the hospital such as President Li Weimin and Party Secretary Zhang Wei, saw them off.

As the first nutritionist to aid Hubei province from all medical teams in China, Rao Zhiyong will provide nutritional therapy to critical patients. “I feel the huge responsibility is on my shoulders; however, I’ve made sufficient preparations in advance. I’m confident of my own working ability,” he said.

According to Qiu Changjian, Vice Director of the Metal Health Center, people would become more worried and depressed as the time passes due to the unknown development of the epidemic and the prospect of medical treatment, so it’s essential to provide psychological counseling to them at this moment. “We hope that we could provide relevant psychological help to ordinary people, quarantined patients and their families as well as the frontline medical workers in Hubei,” he added.
