The Lung Cancer Center is the largest lung cancer diagnosis and treatment center in western China, also a demonstration base for lung cancer screening and early-stage diagnosis and treatment, a base of drafting the Guidelines for Clinical Treatment of Lung Cancer in China, the origin of new technologies and methods for lung cancer treatment, an innovative platform for China's lung cancer fundamental research, a center for R & D of innovative medicines and study of translational medicine, a center of preventing and treating lung cancer in China and a talent training base. The Lung Cancer Center now has 100 beds. Its staff members include four with senior professional titles, four with associate professional titles, two postdoctoral/doctoral tutors and five master tutors.
Institutional features: The Lung Cancer Center is the first single-cancer comprehensive treatment center of the hospital. Senior experts from Thoracic Surgery, Medical oncology, Radiation oncology, Respiratory, Pathology, Imaging, Tumor Radiation Physical Technology Center, etc., are working together to render comprehensive medical services for patients. In this way, the patients no longer need to travel to and from different departments, thereby solving the shortcomings that the patients cannot receive all-round specialized medical services under the department-based treatment system. As a result, the diagnosis, treatment and recovery of the lung cancer are completed at the same department, thus providing optimal individualized treatment solutions for patients with lung cancer.
Lung cancer surgery: 1) Tracheal surgery: tracheal tumor resection and carina resection plasty; 2) Lung surgery: lobectomy, bronchopulmonary artery sleeve lobectomy, pneumonectomy, segmentectomy and lung volume reduction surgery; 3) diaphragm and mediastinal-disease surgery: resection of giant tumors in the mediastinum, thymoma resection, extended thymectomy, etc; 4) Chest wall and pleural cavity-disease surgery: chest-wall benign tumor resection, chest-wall malignant tumor resection, pleural mesothelioma resection, etc; and 5) Thoracoscopic surgery: lobectomy and lymph node dissection for lung cancer, broncho-pulmonary artery sleeve lobectomy for lung cancer ,andmediastinal tumor resection.
Lung cancer medical oncology: It includes pre-operative chemotherapy, post-operative adjuvant chemotherapy, chemotherapy for advanced patients, combined chemoradiotherapy, molecular targeted therapy, immunotherapy and anti-angiogenesis therapy.
Lung cancer radiation oncology: It includes pre-operative radiotherapy, post-operative adjuvant radiotherapy, and radical radiotherapy. Techniques adopted include: Three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT), Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT). The Center initiatively adopts Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), which is the most advanced technique currently, together with Active Breathing Control (ABC) to realize precise radiotherapy for lung cancer.
