Reviewing the history, the Interventional Diagnosis and Treatment Center originated from the former interventional ward of West China Hospital, Sichuan University. After 28 years' exploration and growth, the Department was upgraded as the Interventional Diagnosis and Treatment Center in 2013. The Center strictly abides by national standards for excellent hospitals to realize the objective of turning itself into a base for interventional diagnosis and treatment training instructed by the National Health and Family Planning Commission; it has now realized the complete system of delivering clinical, specialized and disciplinary services in interventional radiology medicine. It boasts a complete talent team of interventional radiooloygy physicians, technicians, nurses and research personnel, integrates the areas of outpatient services, operating rooms, patient wards, clinical applications, scientific research and translational medicine, and up to now it has conducted several interventional diagnosis and treatment projects involving diseases of all specialties. It also has a team of young enthusiastic intervention radiology physicians who show strong sense of responsibility and accountability, carry the dream of interventional practices and strictly abide by the professional ethnics of "honesty, morality, cooperation and expertise". The specialty of peripheral intervention of West China Hospital, Sichuan University has grown rapidly in recent years. Now it is a national and provincial peripheral intervention training base and a key institution attached to Sichuan Peripheral Interventional Diagnosis and Treatment Quality Control Center.
Thoracic intervention: It includes the interventional diagnosis and treatment of vascular and non-vascular disorders of the chest, involving: CT-guided biopsy of lung masses, cryoablation, radiofrequency ablation and bullae curing treatment; digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) guided tumor blood supply artery chemotherapy perfusion and embolization, bronchial arterial embolism in patients with massive hemoptysis, thoracic aortic dissection stent treatment or hybrid treatment with interventional surgery; and pulmonary artery malformation and embolization, balloon dilation of pulmonary artery stenosis and pulmonary thrombolysis, thrombectomy and pulmonary PDA embolization. Currently, clinical diagnosis and treatment services are mainly provided by professors such as Liao Zhengyin, He Qing, Wang Ye, Jiang Faming, Tian Panwen, Zhu Hui, Guo Yingqiang, Hu Jia, Zhao Jichun, Huang Bin and Ma Yukui
Abdominal intervention: It includes vascular and non-vascular interventional diagnosis and treatment of all abdominal organs, involving: ultrasound-guided and CT-guided tumor biopsy, pus tumor drainage, biliary drainage and alcohol, radiofrequency ablation, particle implantation.; X-ray guided stent placement, biliary stent placement and urinary stent placement; DSA-guided tumor-supplying arterial chemotherapy drug infusion and embolization, acute and chronic organ-supplying arterial hemorrhage and embolism, aneurysm embolization, angioplasty, arterial embolization.Interventional treatments are also performed for cirrhosis transjugular intrahepatic portosstemin shunt (TIPS), liver tumor secondary resection of portal vein embolism (PVE),liver venous deprivation (LVD and lesions related to obstetrics-gynecology and genital system. Currently, clinical diagnosis and treatment services are mainly provided by professors such as Lu Wusheng, Luo Xuefeng, Wei Bo, Zhu Yuchun, Liao Zhengyin, He Qing, Lu Qiang, Zhao Jichun, Huang Bin and Ma Yukui.
Spine and extremities intervention: It is dominated by non-vascular interventional procedures. Treatments are performed mainly for embolization and sclerosis of soft tissue vascular malformations, soft tissue tumor particle implantation, nerve root damage or closure and vertebroplasty. Currently, clinical diagnosis and treatment services are mainly provided by professors such as Liao Zhengyin, Liu Hui and He Qing.
Peripheral vascular intervention: Treatments are performed mainly for angioplasty and renal dialysis channel recanalization for limb vascular and diabetic peripheral vascular diseases, abdominal aortic dissection and abdominal aortic aneurysm. The scope of treatment also includes acute and chronic arterial embolism thrombolysis, thrombectomy and varicose sclerosis of lower limbs. Currently, clinical diagnosis and treatment services are mainly provided by professors such as Zhao Jichun, Lu Wusheng, Ma Yukui and Cui Tianlei.
Neurovascular intervention: It mainly includes the interventional radiology diagnosis and treatment of above-neck, inracranial and spinal cord vascular lesions. Currently, the following technologies are implemented: intracranial aneurysm embolization and stent-assisted embolization, hybrid embolization, intracranial vascular malformation embolization, neck and intracranial arteriovenous angioplasty, acute and chronic thrombolytic arteriovenous thrombolysis, thrombectomy and embolization of spinal blood vessel malformations. Currently, clinical diagnosis and treatment services are mainly provided by professors such as Xie Xiaodong, Wang Chaohua and Zheng Hongbo.
