In January 2021, a clinical research paper named “Effect of Internet-based Rehabilitation Program on Improvement of Pain and Physical Function in Patients with Knee Osteoarthritis: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials” was published by Prof. He Chengqi’s team of WCH’s Rehabilitation Medicine Center in Journal of Medical Internet Research, a top journal in medical informatics. Through systematic evaluation and meta-analysis of six randomized controlled clinical trials, the results showed that Internet-based remote rehabilitation can significantly relieve the pain of knee osteoarthritis patients compared with conventional rehabilitation, but further research is needed to improve the physical function of patients. The current Internet-based remote rehabilitation model of knee osteoarthritis was also summarized by the team. As the first research article on the Internet-based remote rehabilitation of knee osteoarthritis in the world, it provided the highest level of evidence (Grade Ia) support for the future Internet-based remote rehabilitation of knee osteoarthritis, and also important reference data for the rapid development of “Internet+ Medical Treatment” in China.
