Liver surgery team performs world’s first Right Posterior Lobectomy (eRPS) of the isolated donor liver, which was named "HuaXi-eRPS" officially

Under the guidance of Professor Yan Lvnan, a tenured professor from West China Hospital, the team of Professor Yang Jiayin and Professor Jiang Li from the Department of Liver Surgery recently completed a right posterior lobectomy (eRPS) of the isolated donor liver (eRPS) to prevent the large-size liver syndrome after DCD liver transplantation in adults. The surgical study was published in 2022 in Transplant International, the official journal of the European Society for Organ Transplantation as an "Original Article", and the new eRPS procedure was named "HuaXi-eRPS" with the Huaxi label at the request of the editor-in-chief and reviewers.

According to the literature retrieval, this new procedure is the first liver transplant-related procedure named after West China Hospital (HuaXi), and also the first liver transplant-related procedure named after a hospital or individual in the Chinese mainland. This new technology marks that the original innovation of liver transplantation in WCH has been recognized and affirmed by authoritative experts in the field of liver transplantation at home and abroad, including Europe, America and Japan. Besides, it is highly praised by Professor Toshimi Kaido, director of Hepatobiliary and Transplantation Surgery, St. Luke International University and Hospital, Tokyo, Japan.
