A*STAR I&E delegation visits WCH to explore medical innovation and translational research collaboration

On the afternoon of April 25, a delegation from the Agency for Science, Technology and Research's Innovation and Enterprise Department (A*STAR I&E) of Singapore, led by Director Neo Kah Yean, visited our hospital. Vice President Wang Kunjie warmly received the delegation in the hospital's Shuita Building, Conference Room 8. Deputy Director Li Wenjin of the Chengdu High-tech Zone's Bureau of Biotechnology Industry, representatives of our hospital's researchers, and relevant departments such as the Science and Technology Department and the International Office attended the meeting.

Vice President Wang extended a warm welcome to Director Neo and her team, emphasizing the complementary nature of our hospital and A*STAR in the field of medical research, and looking forward to jointly promoting high-quality development. He also expressed gratitude to the Chengdu High-tech Zone's Bureau of Biotechnology Industry for its long-term support of our hospital's development. Director Neo introduced the organizational structure and basic situation of A*STAR, expressing a willingness to share its "going global" experience and explore new models of cooperation with WCH.

 

During the meeting, Deputy Director Li Wenjin shared insights into the foundation, space, platforms, and main areas of the biological industry development in Chengdu, starting from the industrial environment of the city. Our hospital's Science and Technology Department presented the management system and achievements in innovative research and achievement transformation. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on clinical research partnerships, international multicenter cooperation, and preclinical research trials.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the Bio-Therapy Research Ward, Early Clinical Research Ward and Scaled Preparation Center of Biological Agents within the National Facility for Translational Medicine (Sichuan), and highly praised our hospital's scientific research facilities and translational capabilities. Both sides hope that this visit will deepen the understanding of medical innovation and translational research, explore opportunities for joint scientific research, and build laboratories together to jointly promote the advancement of medical science.
