In order to further advance the
international cooperation strategy and consolidate the relationship with
important overseas partners, from February 23 to 24, President Luo Fengming and
Vice President Wang Kunjie of West China Hospital, Sichuan University (WCHSCU) led
representatives from its Institute of Endocrine Diseases and International Office
to visit King's College London and the University of Dundee in the UK. During
the visit, the West China UK Overseas Center was officially inaugurated at
King's College London, marking the formal establishment of the center in the
UK. WCHSCU also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University
of Dundee, reaching consensus in areas such as medical education and
collaborative research.
On February 23, the delegation visited
King's College London and held a symposium with representatives from its
Department of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine and Science, the King’s Center
for Lung Health, the Department of Immunobiology, and the Institute of Robotic
Surgery. The inauguration ceremony of the "West China UK Overseas
Center" was held, and both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the
progress of the overseas center's work and joint postdoctoral training
programs.
On February 24, the delegation visited
Ninewells Hospital and the Medical School of the University of Dundee. The two
parties signed an MoU for the first time, reaching consensus on projects such
as the International Course Week, undergraduate clinical internships, joint
doctoral training, and research collaboration.
This visit not only deepened the
cooperation between WCHSCU and top UK medical schools but also reached
consensus in multiple areas, including medical education, research
collaboration, and the construction of overseas centers. WCHSCU will strive to
build a high-level international cooperation platform, enhance the
internationalization of education and research, provide more international
exchange opportunities for faculty and students, promote academic development,
and expand international perspectives, thus propelling West China Medicine to
take the lead in becoming world-class.
