From July 3 to 5, an international nursing academic conference co-hosted by West China Hospital (WCH) and Singapore Health Services (SingHealth) was held at the Singapore General Hospital Academic Conference Center. Experts and colleagues in the field of nursing and healthcare from countries such as China, the United States, Australia, Indonesia, Vietnam, India, and Oman attended the conference. Prof. Jiang Yan, the director of the nursing department of WCH, led the nursing delegation to participate.

Leaders and experts including Ong Ye Kung, Singapore's Minister of Health, Paulin Koh, Chief Nursing Officer of the Ministry of Health, Tracy Carol Ayre, Chief Nursing Director of SingHealth, Terry McDonnell, Chief Nursing Executive and Senior Vice President of Duke University Health System and Deputy Dean of Clinical Affairs at Duke University School of Nursing, and Premarani Kannusamy, Chief Nursing Director of the International Hospital in Bali, Indonesia, attended the opening ceremony.

On the morning of July 3, Prof. Jiang Yan delivered a keynote speech titled "Transformation of Nursing Services at West China Hospital: Dual Enhancement of Value and Efficiency" at the main forum. She systematically elaborated on the three core strategies for nursing development at our hospital: building a high-quality nursing talent echelon, innovating the clinical nursing technology system, and transforming the clinical nursing service model. She focused on sharing WCH's experience in advanced practice nursing (APN) and the development achievements of the AI-based pressure injury early warning system.

During the roundtable discussion at the main forum, Prof. Jiang Yan, along with three international nursing experts from the United States and Singapore, engaged in an in-depth discussion on the theme "Nursing Transformation and Preparedness for the Future," sharing WCH's experience and insights.

The academic content of the conference was rich and varied. The various thematic sub-forums focused on key issues in global nursing development, including sustainable nursing development, digital transformation, leadership change, advanced practice nursing, innovation in nursing education, and future trends in nursing. In the thematic report session, Professors Jiang Xiaolian, Gu Bo, Associate Professors Wu Ying, Huang Xia, and Assistant Researcher Xu Ke from our hospital made presentations. In addition, the research results of Li Simin, a senior nurse, were selected for oral presentation, and the research project of Du Ying, a senior nurse, was shortlisted for the poster competition and won an award.
After the conference, the nursing team from our hospital visited the Singapore General Hospital and its Innovation Center, as well as workshops on professional behavior (EPA), dementia, and wound management for on-site learning. At the closing ceremony, a handover ceremony was held, and the 2026 International Nursing Academic Conference will be hosted by WCH.
