Recently, the research team led by Professor
Huang Wei, the director of the Biobank and deputy director of the Institute of
Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine in West China Hospital (WCH), traveled to Melbourne, Australia to
attend the academic conference co-hosted by the International Association of
Pancreatology (IAP) and the Australian Pancreatic Club
(APC). As one of the high-level academic events in the global field of
pancreatic diseases, the IAP/APC joint conference brought together nearly a
thousand experts and scholars from around the world in the field of pancreatic
diseases to jointly explore the latest progress in the diagnosis, treatment,
and research of pancreatic diseases.
At the conference, Professor Huang Wei
delivered a keynote lecture titled "Research Advances of Traditional
Chinese Medicine in Acute Pancreatitis" in the session on "Advances
in Acute Pancreatitis Research," systematically presenting the series of
achievements of WCH in the treatment of acute pancreatitis with traditional
Chinese medicine, as well as the related research on the molecular mechanisms
and efficacy material basis of traditional Chinese medicine.
Team member Dr. Li Yuying gave oral presentations in the sessions on "Advances in Acute Pancreatitis Research" and "Pancreatic Disease Gene Research," introducing two latest research progresses based on intrapancreatic fat deposition and the pathogenesis of acute pancreatitis, as well as the research on traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions and acute pancreatitis, namely "FIT2/LC-CoA-Mediated Intrapancreatic Fat Deposition and Acinar Cell Calcium Overload in Acute Pancreatitis" and "Bupleurum and Scutellaria Purgative Decoction Mitigates Obesity-Related Acute Pancreatitis by Regulating Fatty Acid Metabolism." Meanwhile, Dr. Li Yuying was awarded the "IAP/APC Young Investigator Travel Award."
Through this conference, the achievements of Professor Huang Wei's team were highly affirmed by international authoritative experts, highlighting the solid accumulation of our hospital in the field of pancreatic disease research. It also contributed "Huaxi Wisdom" to promoting the gradual internationalization of the research results of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of acute pancreatitis and facilitating international pancreatic medical exchanges.
