“Children’s Heartlink” (CHL), an international medical charity institution focused on the prevention and treatment of cardiac diseases of children, arrived at West China Hospital on April 11, 2011 to begin a two-week medical academic activities.
It is the 6th time of CHL to work with West China Hospital from 2006. A cardiac surgical team led by Professor Glen Van Arsdell, the Director of Cardiac Surgery of Sickkids Hospital in Toronto, consisted of cardiac surgeons, ICU doctors, cardiopulmonary bypass perfusionists, anesthetists and nurses have arrived. During the two-week program, the team will assist West China Hospital in 9 cases of surgeries for complex congenital heart disease and bring some training courses as well as lectures on the surgical treatment of pediatric cardiac diseases. They exchanged their internationally advanced technique and knowledge related to the treatment of congenital heart diseases with our hospital, which means to change West China hospital into a highly advanced, international-leveled center for the treatment of congenital heart disease in Southwest China.
