On Sept. 13, 2013, the Dutch Delegation led by H.E. Mrs. Edith Schippers, Minister of Health, Welfare and Sports visited West China hospital, accompanying with leaders from Health Department of Sichuan Province.
Prof. Li Weimin, president of West China hospital, greeted the delegation in the meeting room. He extended the warmest welcome to Mrs. Schippers and all the delegates on behalf of 8900 staff here. In his welcome speech, he mentioned that the Netherlands is famous of advanced medical service and effective public health system, contributing a lot to the development of medicine. As one of the largest single site hospitals in the world, West China Hospital is facing with more challenges, striving to provide better medical service for patients. He hopes the two sides can establish partnership in the field of non-infectious disease management, medical service for aging society, hospital management and medical device digitalization, so as to enhance healthcare and medical education.
Then, Prof. Gong Qiyong, vice president of West China Hospital, briefed the overall situation of West China Hospital, West China school of Medicine, Sichuan University including history, organization model, discipline development, hospital scale, medical education, medical service and scientific research.
Impressed by the introduction, Mrs. Schippers expressed her thanks for the hospitality of the host and appreciation on the tremendous achievement of West China Hospital, especially the great commitment to people’s health as one of the best hospitals in China. She is willing to see potential cooperations in medical technology, joint research and other areas to cope with future challenges together.
The delegation also toured the medical campus and had a close visit to Imaging Center.
