WCH ranks No.2 on China Best Hospital List


From Nov. 23 to 24, China-US Best Hospital President Forum was held in Shanghai. Heads from top hospitals in both China and the States including Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH), West China Hospital (WCH), Mayo Clinic and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) attended the forum and held dialogues on hospital management and development. Prof. Li Weimin, president of our hospital, was invited to deliver a keynote speech. During the two-day forum, Fudan University released 2012 China Best Hospital List.

With the total score of 89.38, our hospital ranked second for the consecutive four years since this list was initially released in 2009. The top 3 hospitals and scores are: Peking Union Medical College Hospital (92.05), West China Hospital (89.38) and General Hospital of Chinese PLA (83.64).

The list also assessed 30 medical disciplines across the country. Except that Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatric Medicine as well as Dentistry are not available in our hospital, 27 disciplines have been assessed, among which 26 were nominated. 20 disciplines entered TOP 10, 12 ones in TOP 5, 3 in TOP 3. Notably, Anesthesiology still ranked as the TOP 1 nationwide.

Prof. Yu Xiaochu, VP of PUMCH, Dr. Stephen J. Swensen, CMO of Mayo Clinic and Dr. Elizabeth Mort, CMO of MGH addressed at the forum, sharing experiences of being the top hospitals and development issues of common interests. The report on experience sharing and future development strategy of our hospital by president Li Weimin raised attention among all the participants.
