On the morning of July 10th, the delegation led by Dr. Alan P. Venook, editor in chief of NCCN Clinical Practice Guideline, Director of the Stomach and Intestine Tumor Department of the UCSFHELED FILLED Family Comprehensive Cancer, and Chairman of the Gastroenteric Tumor Committee of the American Union of Cancer Clinical Trials, visited the Abdomen Oncology Department of our hospital. More than 50 people including abdominal oncologists, nurses, graduate students and regular trainees attended the exchange meeting.
At the meeting, Dr. Venook gave a speech titled the Role of Biomarkers in the Management of Colorectal Cancer, expounded the important role of biomarkers in the guidance for clinical medication for treatment of colorectal cancer, and made profound exchanges with the experts at the site.
This exchange helped to broaden the vision of the medical staff with the Abdomen Oncology Department, keep abreast of the change in the international medical circles, and eliminate the difference in the healthcare concept, opening a new path to the frontline therapeutic schemes for patients.
Dr. Venook, chairman of the panel team for hepatic and gall diseases of the National Cancer Institute of the United States, is dedicated to clinical trial test for treatment of liver cancers and advanced-stage gastrointestinal cancers using infusion chemotherapy and biological agents. He has published nearly 200 academic articles on top world journals including JAMA, Ann Oncol and J Clin Oncol, and won the title of Top Cancer Expert.
