On February 15, the Confucius Institute of Universidade Eduardo Mondlane in Mozambique held an orientation training course for new teachers. Dr. Zhang Hao, leader of the 24th Medical Team to Mozambique and associate professor from WCH’s Pancreatic Surgery Department, was invited to give a medical and health lecture to teachers and students of the Confucius Institute.
Based on actual local situation, Dr. Zhang delivered a lively and interesting lecture on health knowledge about “prevention and control of tropical epidemics” and gave suggestions on how to prevent and control some common epidemics in tropical areas, including malaria, dengue fever, yellow fever, cholera, AIDS and Ebola. Given the recent heavy rainfall in Mozambique, he repeatedly advised to strengthen the prevention of infectious diseases such as malaria and cholera.
Founded in 1962, Universidade Eduardo Mondlane is a leading public university in Mozambique with 11 campuses and 40,000 students, with the main campus located in the capital city of Maputo. The Confucius Institute of Universidade Eduardo Mondlane was established in October 2012, and is the authoritative institution for teaching Chinese language in Mozambique.
