West China Hospital completed renovation of 20 negative pressure quarantine wards of ICU

By the evening of February 13, West China Hospital completed the renovation of 20 Negative Pressure Quarantine Wards of ICU with 40 beds, thus making good preparation for admitting critical Covid-19 patients. On the afternoon of February 14, President Li Yanrong of Sichuan University inspected the renovation work of the negative pressure wards in the company of Party Secretary Zhang Wei and Vice President Zeng Yong of West China Hospital.

To meet the requirements of the Sichuan Provincial People's Government and the Health Commission of Sichuan Province that “medical experts and resources should be concentrated for curing the Covid-19 patients,” President Li Weimin led a group consisting of the colleagues from the Infrastructure and Operation Department and the Equipment and Materials Department of the hospital to inspect the Infectious Disease Center on the evening of February 3. Then, they made the decision that a total of 20 infectious disease wards on the first and second floors should be rebuilt to negative pressure quarantine wards. On the same night, the Infrastructure and Operation Department conducted the feasibility demonstration and contacted a couple of eligible construction companies for carrying out this emergent renovation project. On February 4, they further discussed with the users for implementing the project, and formulated the scheme for personnel deployment and arrangement of relevant materials. After the training of disease prevention and control, the construction unit move into the site on February 6 to start the project. The Infrastructure and Operation Department and the Equipment and Materials Department adopted a two-shift method and worked continuously. They smoothly completed the renovation work on February 13.
