The 24th World Congress of Dermatology (WCD) was held in Milan, Italy from June 10 to 15, 2019. Professor Ran Yuping and his team from the Department of Dermatovenereology participated in this international top dermatology conference held once every four years.
On 10th June 2019, in Joint Summit Meeting of Chinese Society of Dermatology Summit Prof. Ran Yuping presented on “Itraconazole for infantile hemangioma: from bedside to bench”. It was moderated by Dr. Jinhua Xu and Dr. Li He. He spoke on different clinical presentations and treatment strategies in different cases using itraconazole for infantile hemangioma. This is an original discovery from his clinical observation, during treatment of an infantile hemangioma secondary to Candida albicans infection with anti-fungal agent itraconazole, with unexpected results. Not only candidiasis was cured, but infantile hemangioma markedly subsided. Further result suggested the platelet-derived growth factor-D is a target of itraconazole in infantile hemangioma.
