West China Hospital has secured the approval for
four projects in the 2023 Open Competition (OC) held by the China Medical Board
(CMB) from the United States. These projects, led by our International Office
and applied for by the Hospital Infection Management Department and the
Infectious Diseases Center, have collectively received a grant totaling 200,000
US dollars.
This year's CMB OC theme centered on
"Prevention and Control of Healthcare-Acquired Infections" with a
total project fund of approximately 1 million US dollars. Nearly 30
universities and related research institutions, including Peking University,
Peking Union Medical College, Fudan University, Sichuan University, Sun Yat-sen
University, among others, participated in the competition.
Established by the Rockefeller Foundation
in 1914, the China Medical Board has long supported medical education and
talent cultivation in China, making significant contributions to the
advancement of China's medical and health services. The OC project stands as
one of the most emblematic annual open initiatives by the CMB in China and
draws considerable competition.
