Delegation from St. George's University Hospital and the Royal College of Surgeons of England visits West China Hospital

On the afternoon of June 12th, a delegation from St. George's University Hospital and the Royal College of Surgeons of England visited West China Hospital. Vice President Wang Kunjie, along with representatives from the departments of General Surgery, Breast Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Burn Surgery, Medical Simulation Center, Student Affairs Department, Academic Affairs Department, and International Office, participated in the meeting and discussion.

 

Vice President Wang Kunjie introduced the long history, academic strengths, and recent developments of West China Hospital, expressing the hospital's intention to establish a long-term cooperative relationship. He looks forward to in-depth exchanges and cooperation in medical research, clinical teaching, and talent training to jointly promote the progress and development of medical education and services. Dr. Zhang Wei of St. George's University Hospital and Executive Director of the British Medical Development Association, praised West China Hospital's outstanding achievements in medical education and clinical practice, and shared valuable experiences in promoting Sino-British medical exchanges and successful cases in medical education, scientific research cooperation, and clinical practice.

 

During the discussion, representatives from West China Hospital shared the basic conditions of their respective departments, while Dr. Ryan Kerstein and Dr. Edward Robert St John from the Royal College of Surgeons of England shared innovative measures in cutting-edge medical technology and medical transformation that the British medical community is concerned with. Both sides conducted in-depth discussions on cooperation in medical simulation training systems, curriculum exchange, and faculty and student exchanges.

 

During the visit, the delegation toured the hospital's history museum and medical simulation center, and observed surgeries in the Department of Breast Surgery and Department of Plastic Surgery and Burn Surgery. This visit further strengthened the connections between West China Hospital and St. George's University Hospital and the Royal College of Surgeons of England, opening up new prospects for cooperation in medical education, technological exchange, and innovation.
