Circulation journal editors visit West China Hospital for academic exchange

On the morning of June 24th, Professor Joseph Hill, the Editor-in-Chief of Circulation, along with Associate Editor Dr. Wang Zhao and their delegation, visited West China Hospital for an in-depth academic exchange. The delegation was received by Vice President Wang Kunjie and representatives from various departments including the Departments of Emergency, Cardiology, Cardiovascular Surgery, West China Medical Publishers, and International Office of the hospital.

Vice President Wang Kunjie extended a warm welcome to the delegation, considering the exchange a valuable learning opportunity. He highlighted the hospital's achievements in recent years in discipline construction, clinical services, and medical education, emphasizing that the treatment and research of cardiovascular diseases have always been a key development area for the hospital. He expressed hope that through this exchange, the hospital could further enhance its core competitiveness in the field.

Professor Joseph Hill shared his experiences visiting China, expressing his desire to promote exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States in the field of cardiovascular disease treatment and research. He expressed his willingness to guide young Chinese scientists to improve their research capabilities and praised the significant progress West China Hospital has made in the field of cardiovascular disease research.

During the meeting, participants engaged in in-depth academic discussions on cardiovascular disease research, paper writing, and research design guidance.

On June 26th, organized by the Science and Technology Department, Professor Joseph Hill and Dr. Wang Zhao gave lectures titled "The Story of Inflammation in Cardiovascular Disease" and "Stress Response in Pathological Cardiac Remodeling and Heart Failure." At the subsequent Circulation Journal Academic Exchange Meeting, the visiting team exchanged ideas and provided feedback on research articles from the emergency department, cardiology, and cardiovascular surgery departments, which was warmly welcomed by the young scholars present.

The visit yielded significant outcomes, promoting mutual understanding and recognition of the latest advances in cardiovascular disease research through face-to-face in-depth discussions and academic lectures. The international perspectives and professional insights brought by the experts provided a valuable learning opportunity for the hospital's researchers and students, inspiring new research ideas and collaborative inspirations, and building a bridge for future collaborative research projects.
