On September 18, Mr. Romain Jacquet, Counsellor for Health, Social Affairs and Labor at the French Embassy in China, visited West China Hospital (WCH) to explore further cooperation in the field of healthcare. Prof. Wang Kunjie, Executive Vice Dean of West China School of Medicine, and representatives from relevant departments of the hospital participated in the exchange meeting.
Prof. Wang Kunjie extended a warm welcome to Mr. Jacquet and his delegation. He noted that France is home to many world-class medical institutions and pharmaceutical companies, and the healthcare sector is one of the most dynamic areas of Sino-French cooperation. West China Hospital has established long-term and stable cooperative relationships with top French institutions such as Sanofi and the Gustave Roussy Institute/Hospital, covering multiple dimensions including oncology, academic conferences, and talent cultivation. He expressed his expectation for further cooperation between the two sides in the field of healthcare.
Mr. Jacquet stated that this visit would promote more top French medical experts to come to China and West China Hospital for academic exchanges. He also welcomed medical staff from West China Hospital to visit France for similar exchanges to jointly address global health challenges.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on future cooperation in areas such as young scholars, hospital management, and medical research. After the meeting, the visiting delegation visited the Hospital History Museum to gain a deeper understanding of the hospital’s century-long development since its establishment in 1892.
