Recently, the BMJ Group released the "The International Impact of Chinese Hospital Research 2025 - A Report on 20 Years' Health Policy and Clinical Guideline Citations Worldwide." West China Hospital, Sichuan University stood out, ranking first in the number of cited articles and second in total citations nationwide, fully demonstrating its excellent position and extensive influence in the global medical research field.

This report is the first global analysis focusing on the citation of Chinese hospital research findings in international clinical guidelines and health policies, covering the period from 2005 to 2024. The report shows that 2,189 research findings from West China Hospital have been cited in health policies and clinical guidelines in 75 countries worldwide, with a total of 5,073 citations.

The research findings of West China Hospital mainly cover oncology, cardiology, nephrology, and infectious diseases, providing important scientific evidence for global health policy formulation and clinical practice optimization, and fully demonstrating the hospital's leading level in medical research innovation and clinical translation application.

The report uses BMJ Impact Analytics data to track the citation of Chinese hospital research findings in more than 41,000 institutions and over 2,000 health policies and clinical guidelines worldwide from 2005 to 2024. It is the first report to evaluate the research output of Chinese hospitals from the perspective of their impact on global health policies and clinical guidelines, breaking through the previous evaluation methods mainly based on literature citations, journal impact factors, and research funding.

BMJ has previously released global impact reports on Chinese stroke research and gynecological specialty research, showing that Chinese research findings have been repeatedly adopted by international guidelines. The outstanding performance of West China Hospital in this report once again confirms the growing influence and voice of Chinese medical research on the international stage.
