Trauma Center

Overview

To meet the evolving needs of hospital development and management, the Trauma Center of West China Hospital, Sichuan University was officially established in 2019.

The Center comprises five subspecialties: Orthopedic Trauma, Neurotrauma, Pediatric Trauma, Emergency Trauma, and Trauma ICU.

Professor Wang Guanglin serves as Director of the Center, Associate Professor Yang Zhaohua as Party Branch Secretary, and Professor Fang Yue as Deputy Director.


Team

The Center currently has:

  • 22 physicians, including:
    • 5 professors
    • 9 associate professors
    • 2 doctoral supervisors
    • 5 master’s supervisors
  • 44 nurses, including:
    • 1 chief nurse
    • 2 deputy chief nurses

Research & Academic Achievements

Over the past three years, the Center has actively advanced research in the integration of medicine and engineering. Key achievements include:

  • Leading 2 national key research projects in frontier technological innovation
  • Participation in 1 key research and development project of the Ministry of Science and Technology
  • Securing 6 provincial and ministerial-level research projects
  • Total research funding exceeding RMB 10 million

The Center has published:

  • 13 Sichuan University Grade B papers
  • 55 Grade C and D papers

in internationally recognized journals, including SMALL and ACS.


Clinical System & Innovation

The Center has established a 5G-based pre-hospital emergency system, integrated with a one-key multidisciplinary trauma consultation system, enabling “immediate admission upon ambulance boarding.”

Trauma patients receive comprehensive, continuous management throughout hospitalization, ensuring standardized and scientifically rigorous care.

In addition, the Center has developed a trauma cohort database to support intelligent and precision medicine.


Regional Leadership & Collaboration

The Center took the lead in establishing the Sichuan Provincial Trauma Care Alliance.

Its standardized emergency treatment protocols and comprehensive trauma management system have been adopted by nearly 200 institutions both domestically and internationally, contributing to a new stage in the development of trauma care in Sichuan Province.
