West China Medical Simulation Center, established in 1996, is one of the educational departments run independently by West China School of Medicine/West China Hospital, Sichuan University.
Equipped with 12 professional faculty and an elite teaching team, the center currently serves as a platform for experimental teaching and clinical skills training, with an area of 11,000m2 and an asset of ¥100 million. The center is passionately committed to exploring innovative teaching methods. By applying various cutting-edge technologies, such as simulation models, virtual systems, animal models and standardized patients, it can provide students and practitioners with a wide range of simulation facilities and curriculums for each stage of medical education.
With the help of the informatization system which integrates management and teaching, the center delivers 190,000 educational hours each year, and completes post-graduate and continuing education for approximately 10,000 people in about 270 programs. Meanwhile, it also carries out free public health education, attracting more than 10,000 participants each year.
The center has been successively selected as National Experiment Education Model Center,National Simulation Experiment Education Center, Frontier Intelligence Medical Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, Chinese Medical Doctor Association (CMDA) Laparoscopic Surgery Association Training Base, Chengdu Public Health Education base. It is the first American Heart Association (AHA) Training Base in China mainland, and the first institution certificated by the Royal College of Surgeon (RCS) in Asia.
