Nobel laureate Prof. Ferid Murad visits WCH

On the morning of May 8th, the Laureate of the Nobel Prize, Prof. Ferid Murad, visited West China Hospital accompanied by the president of China Center of the Global Drug Commercialization Center (GDCC). Professor Shen Bin, Vice Party Secretary of WCH, met with Prof. Ferid Murad in the third meeting room of the Administration Building. Representatives from the Cardiology Department, the Clinical Pharmaceutical Department (Pharmacy Department), the National Key Laboratory of Biotherapy, the Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy Journal, and the International Office and other relevant departments joined the meeting.

Professor Shen welcomed the visit of Prof. Murad on behalf of WCH. He briefly introduced the history, medical services, medical research, and international exchanges of WCH, especially the complete medical system. He said that West China Hospital has been always adhering to an open attitude to partner with high-level partners to carry out high-quality international cooperation projects. He also hoped to further cooperate with more top international institutions.

Prof. Murad expressed thanks to the warm reception and considerate arrangement. Ms. Karimah Sabar, President of GDCC China, expressed that GDCC always devotes to building the bridge for international cooperation, and the objective of this visit is to learn more about the opinions and recommendations from the clinical experts and to further improve the services. The representatives of both Canadian enterprises and clinical departments of WCH exchanged views on professional issues and preliminarily explored the orientation of the future cooperation.

After the meeting, Prof. Murad gave a lecture entitled "Discovery of the Nitric Oxide and Cyclic GMP Signaling Pathway and Application to Drug Development" and shared his research career and the story of winning the Nobel Prize.
