On Aug. 4, 2021, the 2021 Science and Technology Evaluation Matrics (STEM) & the Five-year ASTEM were officially released. In the comprehensive ranking, WCH ranked first in China for nine consecutive years in the comprehensive STEM ranking, and also first in the Five-year ASTEM.

In the discipline ranking, WCH’s disciplines among the Top 3 increased from 13to 15 comparing with 2020, with urology, critical care, nursing, emergency medicine and anesthesiology ranking first, infectious diseases, nephrology, allergology, general surgery and neurology ranking second and gastroenterology, tuberculosis, respirology, orthopedics and oncology ranking third.

The 2021 STEM evaluated 1,641 tertiary hospitals, 110 independent medical colleges and comprehensive universities with medical disciplines.
