On the afternoon of March 13, Professor
Andy Hor, Deputy Chief Executive (Research) of Singapore's Agency for Science,
Technology and Research (A*STAR), led a delegation to West China Hospital (WCH)
for exchanges and discussions. Vice President Wang Kunjie of WCH, along with
representatives from the Department of Science and Technology, the Department
of Clinical Research Management, the Department of Geriatrics, and the
International Office attended the meeting.
Vice President Wang Kunjie extended a warm
welcome on behalf of WCH, emphasizing A*STAR's pivotal role in Singapore's
technological innovation. He acknowledged A*STAR's significant achievements in
technology development, industrial innovation, and improving both economic
growth and people's quality of life. Particularly, he commended A*STAR's
exemplary performance in scientific research and technology transfer, serving
as a role model for WCH.
Professor Andy Hor provided an overview of
A*STAR, emphasizing its function as a nexus between academia, industry, and
government in Singapore. He expressed A*STAR's keenness for WCH to expand
international exchanges in Singapore and collaborate in addressing future
health challenges. He also expressed hopes for mutual learning, inviting
representatives from WCH to visit Singapore in the future, tour A*STAR's
significant scientific research facilities, and engage with renowned research
teams.
During the meeting, both parties discussed
topics including geriatric medicine research, establishing collaborative
platforms, organizing seminars, and enhancing cooperation in education,
research, medical services, and management.
