From August 18th to 20th, the "Belt
and Road" Radiology Training Program, organized by the Sichuan
International Medical Exchange Promotion Association and hosted by the Sichuan
Radiological Medicine Quality Control Center and West China Hospital (WCH),
Sichuan University, was successfully held in Chengdu. The event attracted 51
radiology technicians, nurses, and healthcare administrators from 14 countries
along the "Belt and Road" Initiative, including Ethiopia, Russia,
Kenya, and Vietnam. Li Xinhua, Deputy Director of the Sichuan Provincial Health
Commission, and Luo Fengming, President of WCH, attended the opening ceremony
and delivered speeches. The training program received guidance from the
International Exchange Center of the Provincial Health Commission and academic
support from the China Mental Imaging Alliance.

Fengming, and Professor Mesfin Mulugeta Wolderufael, President of the Ethiopian
Radiology Society, among other leaders and distinguished guests, delivered
speeches expressing their optimistic visions and earnest hopes for
international cooperation under the "Belt and Road" initiative. They
unanimously agreed that the Radiology Department of West China Hospital would
play a significant role in medical services and training in countries along the
route.
Following the opening ceremony, Professor
Lü Su, Chair of the "Belt and Road" Radiology Training Program and
Director of the Radiology Department, shared the century-long history of WCH
Radiology. He highlighted the department's achievements in teaching, research,
medical services, discipline construction, and talent cultivation, showcasing
the unique advantages of radiology in specialized disease services and
technological platforms. He also explored future trends in the field of
radiology.
The training program included 15 courses
covering radiology diagnosis, technical and nursing lectures on specialized
diseases, as well as hands-on training in MR, CT, and 3D post-processing. The
content ranged from basic theories to clinical practices, and from traditional
teaching methods to cutting-edge explorations. The program also delved into
medical imaging diagnostic models for specialized diseases in fields such as
mental imaging, respiratory, cardiovascular, hepatobiliary, urogenital, and
gastrointestinal systems. During the training, participants visited the
hospital's history museum, the translational medicine building, and the 15T
translational medical imaging platform.
The training program received unanimous praise from participants, who expressed that the disease-centered diagnostic and treatment model of West China Hospital's Radiology Department provided them with significant inspiration. They hoped to bring the knowledge gained in Chengdu to their respective countries for application and practice.
