On April 9, Professor Li Rongyu, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Queensland, Australia, and his delegation visited West China Hospital, Sichuan University. Our hospital's President Luo Fengming and Vice President Wang Kunjie met with the guests. Representatives from the Department of Critical Care Medicine, International Office, the Human Resources Department, the Academic Affairs Office, the Graduate Department, and other relevant departments also attended the meeting.
President Luo Fengming welcomed the delegation and briefly introduced the basic situation of the hospital. He mentioned that the University of Queensland, as one of the oldest universities in Australia, is a world-leading institution for education and research. He expressed his hope that, based on existing cooperation in critical care medicine, both sides could further expand their areas of cooperation and strengthen in-depth collaboration in scientific research and talent cultivation.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Li Rongyu introduced the development of the University of Queensland in recent years. He pointed out that the university has the largest medical school in Australia, places great emphasis on scientific research, and has accumulated rich experience in multidisciplinary integration and technology transfer. He emphasized that after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the University of Queensland will continue to strongly support academic exchanges between the two institutions and promote the continuous deepening of cooperation.

During the meeting, both sides signed the Memorandum of Understanding, formally establishing in-depth cooperation in several areas, including the construction of sister departments/laboratories, joint scientific research and teaching, reciprocal visits between faculty and students, and student internships. The participants also witnessed the unveiling ceremony of the "Sister Laboratory" between our hospital's Department of Critical Care Medicine's Visualized Diagnostics and Therapeutics & Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (VDT-AI Lab) and the Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB) of the University of Queensland. In the future, the "Sister Laboratory" will closely collaborate in key areas such as the development of artificial intelligence medical devices, the development of visualization and diagnostic education and training courses, and international multicenter scientific research cooperation, jointly promoting innovation and development in related fields.
