On
April 26th, West China Hospital conducted its first international telemedicine
consultation with Siloam Hospitals Lippo Village in Indonesia. The event was
attended by Charles Wonsono, the Health Business Director of Siloam Hospitals
Group, along with representatives from the management and clinical experts of
Siloam Hospitals. From our side, Vice President Wang Kunjie and representatives
from various departments were present.
During
this exchange, a total of 13 experts from 10 departments of both hospitals
participated in two online case discussions. For a case involving a patient
with heart disease, a multidisciplinary team of eight experts from our
hospital's Cardiology, Radiology, Cardiac Surgery, Neurology, Rheumatology and
Immunology, and Gastroenterology departments provided comprehensive and
professional multidisciplinary consultation opinions after a detailed analysis.
For a case in the respiratory field, a multidisciplinary team of nine experts
from our hospital's Lung Cancer Center, Radiology, Rheumatology and Immunology,
Pathology, Tuberculosis Research Lab, Gastroenterology, and Nuclear Medicine
departments offered comprehensive and professional multidisciplinary
consultation opinions after thorough discussion. They the confirmed diagnosis
of stage IVB pulmonary adenocarcinoma and pulmonary tuberculosis, analyzed the
cause of pancreatic swelling, and provided recommendations for additional tests
and the next steps in treatment.
During
the telemedicine consultation, Shixiaolin, the Governor of Sichuan Province,
who was visiting the Siloam Group in Indonesia, also joined the connection and
highly praised the consultation activity. She hoped that both sides could fully
utilize technology-empowered methods such as telemedicine to achieve more
fruitful results in future medical cooperation and exchanges.
Vice
President Wang Kunjie stated that West China Hospital will continue to maintain
an open and cooperative attitude, implement the national "Belt and
Road" initiative, and with the support of the provincial government,
further strengthen comprehensive cooperation with Indonesian and other ASEAN
partners in medical care, education, scientific research, and other areas. We
are committed to contributing to the construction of the Maritime Silk Road.
This consultation marked the first academic exchange between WCH and an Indonesian hospital. Moving forward, we will take this as an opportunity to continuously expand our cooperation with medical institutions in Indonesia and other ASEAN countries, explore more cooperation models, jointly promote the development of regional medical services, and build a closer "Belt and Road" medical cooperation community.
