At the expo, the hospital systematically presented a complete innovation chain from the laboratory to the bedside, with notable highlights in the field of research translation.
In high-end medical devices and core components, the hospital showcased a series of precision diagnostic equipment with independent intellectual property rights, including the Microarray Nucleic Acid Electronic Analyzer, Semiconductor Gene Sequencer, and Nanopore Gene Sequencer, reflecting WCH’s solid capabilities in original innovation and tackling key core technologies.
In the field of biomedicine and tissue engineering, major exhibits also drew attention: the Human Acellular Amniotic Membrane, as a representative tissue engineering product of regenerative medicine, is driving technical iterations in reconstructive surgery; Fospropofol Disodium for Injection, a new anesthetic, marks a milestone in the hospital’s new drug development and translational achievements; and Liuhedan Ointment, derived from the hospital’s own formulations, has achieved breakthroughs in standardization and evidence-based validation of traditional Chinese medicine, serving as a vivid example of modernizing traditional medicine.

During the expo, the hospital delegation conducted in-depth exchanges with several internationally renowned medical and educational institutions, including Mass General Brigham, Mayo Clinic, Healthcare UK, University College London, King’s College Hospital, Johns Hopkins Medicine, and George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology of Targu Mures (UMFST).
The discussions focused on joint research, talent cultivation, hospital management, and technology translation. The parties reached multiple preliminary cooperation intentions in areas such as research collaboration, joint student training, international project applications, co-establishment of research centers, development of West China Overseas Centers, and exploration of hospital-level systematic cooperation models, further expanding the hospital’s international cooperation network in North America, Europe, and the Middle East.

Beyond participating in the expo, this Dubai visit was an opportunity for the hospital to actively expand into the Middle East, deepen high-quality medical partnerships, and continue strengthening the “Belt and Road” medical and health cooperation network.
From February 10 to 11, Party Secretary Cheng Yongzhong and Vice President Hu Jiankun led visits to several hospitals.
During the visit to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, the West China team focused on studying the hospital’s clinical observership program for medical students, creating international clinical training pathways and advancing the internationalization of medical talent development.
At King’s College Hospital London Dubai, the team studied the operational management system of the transnational branch and reached preliminary cooperation intentions in liver transplantation, neuroscience, and nursing talent training.
During the visit to University Hospital of Sharjah, both parties focused on robotic surgery training, reciprocal clinical staff visits, and signing memoranda of understanding, clarifying future cooperation directions.
At Aster Hospital, discussions centered on smart hospital top-level design, interoperability of medical information systems, and nursing talent development.
From technology transfer to talent cultivation, and from discipline alignment to management benchmarking, this Middle East trip advanced the hospital’s international medical, research, educational, and management cooperation from “single-point display” to “systematic co-building.”
This participation represents a key step in West China Hospital’s unwavering pursuit of high-quality internationalization and the construction of a “Belt and Road” international medical cooperation network, receiving attention from major national media.
