China on March 11 sent a medical expert team to Italy to help fight the epidemic and bring humanitarian relief supplies to support Italy in fighting against the COVID-19. Prof. Liang Zong’an, director of the Department of Respiratory Critical Care Medicine of West China Hospital, and Prof. Tang Menglin, head nurse of the Pediatric Section at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of WCH were in the team.

On the expedition ceremony, Vice President Zhang Lin of Sichuan University, Party Secretary Wang Bin of Foreign Language College of Sichuan University, President Li Weimin and Party Secretary of West China Hospital saw the team off.

Prof. Liang said they will mainly provide professional guidance and share experience in battling the virus after they arrive in Italy, especially to those in critical conditions, and promote bilateral cooperation in the field of health.
