Professor Xia Qing's Team from the Pancreatitis Center attends the 56th EPC meeting of the European Pancreatic Club
From June 26th to 29th, the 56th EPC meeting of the European Pancreatic Club took place in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. As one of the world's leading academic events in the field of pancreatic diseases, the conference attracted more than 500 clinicians and researchers in pancreatology to discuss the latest basic and clinical research on acute and chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. Five members from Professor Xia Qing’s team of West China Center of Excellence for Pancreatitis attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Associate Professor Deng Lihui presented an oral report titled "Chaiqin Chengqi Decoction for Patients with Predicted Moderately Severe and Severe Acute Pancreatitis: A Randomized Clinical Trial", marking the first time that the results of a randomized controlled clinical trial of traditional Chinese medicine treatment for acute pancreatitis were showcased at an international conference.
Professor Huang Wei was invited to participate in the roundtable meeting on the "European Interdisciplinary Acute Pancreatitis Pain Management Guidelines". The guidelines compile evidence-based recommendations from several European societies and, for the first time, consider including traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture for pain management in acute pancreatitis.
The team also displayed five basic research achievements on acute pancreatitis through poster presentations. Dr. Wu Yongzi received a travel award from the conference. Participation in this international academic exchange indicates that the high-quality clinical evidence of traditional Chinese medicine treatment for pancreatitis by West China Hospital has been recognized by international peers, which is significant for the Pancreatitis Center to keep up with the international academic forefront and to support the construction of peak disciplines.
