Giuseppe Battaglia, an international expert at the Magnetic Resonance Research Center of Radiology Department, West China Hospital, has recently been awarded the 5th Chengdu Jinsha Friendship Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to promoting international research cooperation. The Jinsha Friendship Award, established by the Chengdu Municipal Government, is the highest honor awarded every three years to foreign experts who have made significant contributions to the modernization and international exchange of Chengdu.
Professor Battaglia, an Italian national,
currently serves as the head of the Molecular Bionics Group at the Institute
for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), Spain. He is an expert in the fields of
neurodegenerative diseases, biomedicine, drug development, and engineering
technology. In clinical research, he employs advanced multimodal technologies
such as MRI and fluorescence imaging to delve into the mechanisms of
Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, actively developing effective drugs. In
terms of international cooperation, Professor Battaglia has actively fostered
exchanges and cooperation between West China Hospital and Spain in the field of
biomedicine, promoting academic visits and talent cultivation between Spanish
research institutions, including IBEC and the University of Barcelona, and West
China Hospital. He has also provided an important platform for researchers from
various disciplines to showcase and share research outcomes, driving the
production of interdisciplinary innovative results.
