On November 8th, Mr. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, along with Executive Director of Corporate Affairs Raymond TAM, visited our hospital. They were joined by Vice President Zhao Changsheng of Sichuan University, Mr. Liu Chunyao, head of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Section of Sichuan Provincial Office for Hong Kong and Macao Affairs, Vice President Wu Hong of West China Hospital, and leaders from relevant admin departments and clinical departments.

During the meeting, Vice President Zhao Changsheng commended the Hong Kong Jockey Club for its pivotal role in the high-quality development of the Sichuan University–The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction and the West China School of Medicine. He expressed hopes for increased exchange and cooperation between the two parties to facilitate the implementation of more projects.

After hearing reports on the Capacity Building Project with the CUHK for the Surgery Department of West China Hospital and the Construction of West China Hospital Regional Center for Emergency and Critical Diseases (Based on Information Networks), Mr. Engelbrecht-Bresges acknowledged the achievements made and looked forward to further collaboration in the medical field to strengthen the medical system construction.

During their visit, the delegation toured the Multimodal Surgical Skills Training and Innovation Center and observed demonstrations of the hospital's independently developed spinal minimally invasive surgery simulator and endoscopy operation simulator for teaching purposes.
