WCH takes the lead in establishing China-Africa Hospital Alliance Medical Imaging Consortium Working Group

Recently, the establishment ceremony of the China-Africa Hospital Alliance and the China-Africa Hospital Development Conference, hosted by the International Exchange and Cooperation Center of the National Health Commission, was held in Beijing. Health ministers from African countries such as Gabon, Zambia, Cameroon, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Mauritius, ambassadors from multiple African countries to China, and over 300 Chinese and African hospital managers and medical professionals gathered together to discuss the development of China-Africa health cooperation.

At the conference, the " China-Africa Hospital Alliance Medical Imaging Consortium Working Group," co-led by West China Hospital (WCH) and the Pan-African Congress of Radiology and Imaging, was officially established. The working group is affiliated with the China-Africa Hospital Alliance, with member countries including 42 African countries such as Kenya, Zambia, and Morocco, as well as more than 10 Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Prof. Lui Su, director of the Department of Radiology, and Prof. Li Zhenlin, deputy director, from WCH attended the establishment meeting of the working group.

In the future, the working group will focus on close cooperation in public health, hospital management, clinical practice, medical technology, education, industry, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and other areas. It will regularly conduct academic exchanges, output Chinese standards, provide Chinese technological solutions, and strengthen the Belt and Road cooperation mechanism by cultivating more medical technical personnel through the newly established technical training school in Zambia.
