From August 21 to 23, the 9th Asia-Oceanian
Conference of Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine (AOCPRM 2025), co-hosted
by the Asia-Oceanian Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and the
Malaysian Society of Rehabilitation Medicine, was held in Penang, Malaysia. The
conference theme was “Future Rehabilitation: Building on Solid Foundations and
Advancing to New Frontiers.” Dr. He Hongchen, a professor from the
Rehabilitation Medicine Center of West China Hospital (WCH), led a team of 16
people to participate in this international conference. Through four oral
presentations and 12 posters, the team showcased the innovative achievements
and clinical practices of the Rehabilitation Medicine Center in multiple
cutting-edge fields, including regenerative rehabilitation, musculoskeletal
rehabilitation, neurorehabilitation, and new rehabilitation technologies.

At the meeting, Dr. He Hongchen was invited
by the conference to deliver a keynote speech in the special forum
“Regenerative Rehabilitation: Shaping the Future of Rehabilitation Medicine.”
He systematically elaborated on the new pathways and integrated models of
regenerative rehabilitation in the multidisciplinary treatment of
musculoskeletal diseases and proposed forward-looking strategies for the
development of the discipline. The content of the report received high
recognition and positive feedback from international experts attending the
conference.

reported on hot topics such as internet-based exercise rehabilitation,
application of virtual reality technology, robot-assisted training,
individualized treatment of knee osteoarthritis, and platelet-rich plasma
therapy. They fully demonstrated the solid work and innovative strength of the
center in scientific research and clinical translation.

This conference provided an opportunity for
our Rehabilitation Medicine Center to showcase its academic achievements and
built an important platform for exchange and cooperation with international
peers. In the future, the Rehabilitation Medicine Center will continue to
uphold the spirit of innovation, collaboration, openness, and pragmatism. It
will continue to promote the construction of the rehabilitation medicine
discipline, scientific research innovation, and the improvement of clinical
service levels, contributing to patient functional reconstruction and the
development of rehabilitation medicine.
