The delegation from Hong Kong government which has participated in earthquake relief visited West China Telemedicine Center on May 4th, 2011.
The director of public affairs development department Xu Caigang firstly introduced the development and functions of the telemedicine center in detail, especially the important roles it played in medical treatment after the Wenchuan earthquake and improving the medical level of disaster areas. Then, the delegation watched the tele-consultation with Jiangyou Creek Dam Central Hospital. The chief doctor of the delegation Du Meiqi talked to the doctors from Jiangyou Creek Dam Central Hospital and asked how the tele-consultation was going there through the network platform. Finally, the delegation watched the tele-education video.
After "5.12" Wenchuan earthquake, Hong Kong government and compatriots provided selfless assistant to earthquake relief and reconstruction. The "distant medical network platform project" which West China hospital is currently building is one of the post-disaster reconstruction projects. It is also the only software reconstruction project among all the reconstruction projects supported by Hong Kong government. This project aims to deploy West China distant medical system in 286 medical institutions in disaster areas and to improve their medical and health service level.
